The Bucket List

If you had to write your own obituary or eulogy, what would it say?

Quite simply, whilst at work, we had Leprechaun Balls delivered by Bob 'n' Pete's Bakery from Marrickville, NSW, to celebrate St Patricks Day.

Filled with custard and tainted with Irish Whisky, the green icing repelled most customers. However I bought and indulged in one of these glorified donuts, complimented by a double shot flat white, thinking to myself if I didn't make tomorrow, at least I have travelled most parts of Australia and tried a leprechaun ball.

I would like to point out that I never officially named these green displays in the Bain Marie; the term 'leprechaun ball' is how they were described on the bakeries invoice.

I would also like to point out how many customers stated that they look nothing like leprechaun balls. It seems leprechaun balls are a common sight and most humans are expertise in identifying them.

However, going back to writing your own obituary or eulogy there would be a lot to voice.

No doubt you are pondering what you have enjoyed, achieved, accomplished in your lifespan right now as you read this. Secondly, you may be contemplating what else you would like to enjoy, achieve, accomplish in the years you have left. Understandable! Everyone has a think about what goals they have in life.

I believe it may be called The Bucket List, and there is in fact a movie based on it starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. The Bucket List is an intriguing storyline based on a battler meeting a rich tycoon in hospital after both are diagnosed with cancer. These two complete strangers become friends and decide to write a list of things to do before they kick the bucket. Their list is much longer but contains some of the following:

Witness something truly majestic
Help a complete stranger for common good
Laugh till I cry
Drive a Shelby Mustang
Kiss the most beautiful girl in the world
Get a tattoo
Skydiving

I have on my Bucket List some of the following:

Photograph a full moon rising over Mungo National Park
Swim in the Cage of Death and meet Burt, the 80 year old Saltie
Stroll along Hobarts waterfront and indulge at the Saturday markets
Check out the ute muster in Deniliquin
Grow my very own Boab tree
Snorkel with a wild manta ray
Win Lotto, twice (pretty obvious)

Without actually referring to our goals and dreams as our Bucket List, many of us have achieved, witnessed, enjoyed, experienced and indulged in a variation of life's joys. Experiencing discovering Australia by BYOing accommodation and being your own personal tour guide is something we all have in common.
