A lonely grave by Lake Hindmarsh

150 years ago this August a shepherds wife Margaret Jardine died in childbirth in the desert area north of Lake Hindmarsh. It was a tragedy that she died but the husbands misfortune continued as the axle broke on the dray as he was taking her body to Dimboola for burial. I have recently completed a project to have a story board erected to tell her story. If you are passing this was, pay Margaret a visit she never had any visitors when she was alive.

This a photo from the day it was unveiled by the Mayor of Hindmarsh. We even had a descendant of Margaret Loney present.
