High,
Just a quick note about who we are and whats happening.
We are a new to traveling couple that have got some amazing trips under our belt. In September 2013 we bought a new Explorer Campers and Canvas semi offload camper trailer. My partner was not free camp savvy so our first trip was to a caravan park at Manning point near Taree. Then we went to Woko National park and Swans Crossing. By now my camping buddy had gotten used to less luxury and we did a Christmas trip down the south coast stopping at the river in Nowra, Pebbly beach and Depot beach, then down near Bega. We then travelled inland to Buchan Caves, Hinomunji Bridge near Omeo and back via Canberra.
The trips got bigger and better after that with a trip up the coast to Fraser Island and back. The Birdsville bash and back in 2016. And this year we are off to the flinders.
Well will be great to chat to you all about where you have been and what ideas we can share, so for now wish you all good health and safe and happy travels.
John & Trace.

Welcome hh.
It's good to get new people on board.

We have been travelling for 5+I/2 years and love it.
Right now we are at Tin Can Bay waiting for Judy to have an operation. Then we will be out there again.
The op is now scheduled for some time in Feb/March.

Enjoy your travels out there and lets know what you get up to .

Cheers, Brian

Last night as I was on the stair
I saw a man that wasn't there
He wasn't there again today
I wish he'd bloody go away.

Hello happy hookers,

Great name. I assume it means you hook up to your camper trailer, nothing more LOL. Well, I am single, female and read of peoples adventures like yourselves just to torture myself. I have big plans to see more of this country than the east NSW coastline and use this site for information and tips. One thing I do ponder is how safe have your travels been? Being a loner I do wonder as I would like to free camp too to save on costs. Previous posts point out that many get 'adopted' by other travellers and sometimes meet up with others further down the track so I may not necessarily find myself in a situation. Yet when I look at the vast distances on the map, such as Birdsville where you went, there is a lot of empty space between towns. Anyhow, I love your photo and would like to see and read more, if not just to torment myself further LOL. It never hurts to dream in the meantime. :)

Hi John and Trace,

Welcome to Grey Nomads Australia!

Thanx for your introduction, we look forward to hearing more. I love your photo too, Fraser Island?

We've seen a fair bit of Australia but certainly not all. I doubt we ever would as events keep popping up such as the Irish Festival in Tullamore, the Elvis festival in Parkes and the Abba festival in Trundle (where does one pack platform boots?). But we can't just do it all, the years aren't long enough. :)
It's been several years since we've been to Tamworth's country music festival with big intentions on going back but when??? Try to squeeze in a bit of top end fishing, WA boab hugging, north Qld snorkelling and eating a scallop pie in Tasmania and we wonder if it IS possible to see it all and do it all.
At the moment we are gearing up for a trip to the Simpson Desert. We've been through parts but this time we just want to pull up under the stars and take it all in over a few weeks.
A couple of our adventures found here:

Please add any updates on these links if ok as they are always handy and sought after by others. :)

Cheers,
Sharon

Hi Happy Hooker,

Nice to meet you. I think it's been about 4 years since we've been on the road, life took a bit of a turning circle. Health issues, family issues, I won't go on but aaargh. We are not on the road at the moment but I think once you've had a taste it's pretty hard not to want to go back. I think what I miss most is the simplicity. Everyone seems to live the rat race kind of life and the need for all the mod cons. Our time on the road made us appreciate that as long as you've got the wind at your back everything else is fine. Enjoy your adventures and keep us posted.

Bye,
Jess
