Got nothing on in June and still down south why not join in on this?

Mad Dogs and Camp ovens
The inaugural Mad Dog Morgan Festival will coincide with the Camp Oven Challenge at Pine Plains to ensure the long weekend in June is an unforgettable experience in Patchewollock.
The festival will start with a 26 km walk thru Wyperfeld National Park along the freeway track following Outlet Creek from Wonga camping grounds to Pine Plains Lodge. This is the route Mad Dog Morgan took while hiding out from the law in 1862. The canoe trees, lake beds, flora, fauna and natural beauty make this walk an unforgettable experience.
This is a great opportunity for members of the general public to traverse the park from South to North which is generally inaccessible. Parks are very supportive of the event and will be on hand to help the organisers with any needs that may arise.
The freeway track follows beside and occasionally crosses Outlet Creek which flows from Lake Albacutya into Lake Agnes located beside the Pine Plains Homestead on the northern end.
The 26 km walk can be conquered by people with a reasonable level of fitness but it is strongly recommended that participants do some training prior to the event. A health check from your local GP would also be a good idea as it can be a fairly strenuous walk in an isolated area.
The walk will be completed on Saturday 9th June and will coincide with the Mad Dog Morgan festival to be held at the Patchewollock Hotel from 6pm on the Saturday evening with live music and prizes to be given away for competitions including the Mad Dog look alike.
Sunday will see the traditional Camp Oven Challenge at Pine Plains Lodge. Everyone is encouraged to come along. You can put forward your culinary camp oven creation as a challenger in a bid for the prizes on offer. Alternatively, you can spend the day sampling such exquisite dishes as the delicious Lake Agnes Perch in quandong sauce, whilst raising money for local community projects. Registration is at 9am with a variety of activities throughout the day.
Several high profile celebrities who have indicated they will be participating so anyone who would like to join the Walk in the Park please contact Bryce at Control Central, c/o Patchewollock Pub on 0419 024660 or 50841280. If you would like to know more about the Camp Oven Challenge please call Gen 0437 350 385 or Jono 0407733123.[attachment=1466]Mad dog 2.jpg

The event went well with a good crowd taking up the challenge to do the walk through Wyperfeld Park Pine Plains. I told the story of mad dog Morgan at the Patchewollock pub with a pantomime that had everyone laughing and talking about it. The event was followed the next day with the Pine Plains camp oven cook off.
All in all it was a good weekend of fun.
