Katherine Gorge.
×
What to see, what to do, how much, can we take pets or do they accept large rigs. These are just a few things we may not have answers for. Hopefully here, our questions will be fulfilled.

Did a boat trip at Katherine Gorge.
$151. for two of us. Well worth the trip. Great Scenery. Jabirus on a couple of little beaches and 3 crocs ( fresh water ).
Last night as I was on the stair
I saw a man that wasn't there
He wasn't there again today
I wish he'd bloody go away.

That's great sands, good to hear you enjoyed it and it was well worth it.
We have probably passed each other in our travels

.
We stayed at Riverview caravan park, Katherine, because they allow dogs and have access to the hot springs.

Yeah, we probably passed somewhere Sharon.
We camped in the bush near the airport at Katherine. A great little spot about 100 meters off the road behind some thick bush.
Probably not meant to be there but shit happens.
Not much room but nobody else was there.
The best part of Katherine is the road out I reckon.

Your camp sounds ideal. Ours cost $42 for one night.
We have camped at Riverview in the past but this time they put us on the roadside and we got very little sleep with the traffic noise, especially because directly across the road was a parking bay for road trains. If anyone camps there may I suggest booking a site along the back fence.
The whizzbanger beside us felt like opening and shutting its whizzdoor alot too, not sure why.
As for Katherine, Woolworths was near empty of stock and 2 police officers were manning each bottle shop. They won't sell what I was after anyway so we are living on spuds and no Yalumba until we visit the shops again.

I was planning on spending at least a week in Katherine. Not a good idea? We'll need to do separate tours in the gorge because one of us will have to stay with our dog.

Hi kaymil33,
Apologies, please don't get me wrong about Katherine. The gorge, river and hot springs are well worth the visit. I believe the town may not have been prepared for the demand due to the Katherine show. We were passing through Katherine on our return from Timber Creek and hoped to buy fresh fruit and vege but they had run out. Going without my Yalumba certainly won't hurt me
Maybe once you have settled into camp someone may watch your dog for you?
Cheers,
Sharon
