What to see, what to do, how much, can we take pets or do they accept large rigs. These are just a few things we may not have answers for. Hopefully here, our questions will be fulfilled.

We've just stayed at Burrumbottom or whatever. Nice quiet little spot, donation of $5 required. Had the place all to ourselves and was a spot outside the pub for us to sit with our dog for a couple of coldies.

Winton is was Sands. Not a bad bacon and egg roll there either.
The bush folk can relate to hard work. They can be quite the inspiration when the going gets tough. I didn't expect to come across the convoy but glad I did. Another experience to talk about around the campfire. Arrived in Darwin, am yet to wet a line.

Hi Topender,
I will be based at Dundee Beach, fishing the Finniss and surrounds. Might catch up with a few locals and take the tinny with the electric outboard to the South Alligator to fish the billabongs too. The billabong fishing is only catch and release, you'd know what a freshwater barra tastes like. Like most fishermen I have a vast selection of lures. The wife often says I'm the one who's been caught, not the fish.

Hi Kaye,
Sounds good. I reckon a couple of coldies is mandatory when travelling.

G'day Smed,
Yeah, fresh barra tastes like mud. A good barra has to be chrome with a yellow gob. Can never have enough lures. Do you use them down south or are they only good for up here? The Alligator river, who named it as I've never seen an alligator in it. The Mary river produces good fishing too.
Catchya soon.
In a while, crocodile

Hi Topender,
In NSW I usually use a soft plastic for flathead.
Took a couple of mates up the Finniss yesterday and a local charter boat hit a rock bar and got stuck. Took a bit of effort pulling them off and was a bit hit and miss with a sudden torrential downpour. We had to pull the bungs and do a bung run to empty my tinny of the rain water. Brought home a nice barra, didn't want to keep more or I'd have no excuse to wet a line again.
If anyone is up this way, you'll agree it's still quite hot. But worth it.
