Camps used up the centre SA to Alice
×
What to see, what to do, how much, can we take pets or do they accept large rigs. These are just a few things we may not have answers for. Hopefully here, our questions will be fulfilled.

I'll keep adding to this as we find them.
From Port Augusta, our first camp was at Pimba (Spuds roadhouse). It is actually a designated rest stop just outside Woomera but so much better than the average. Toilet blocks are great; $2 showers; heaps of room (counted at least 20 vehicles last night); plenty of dogs there and, of course, Spuds Roadhouse is adjacent. They have a donation box for a coin donation if you want to help the progress organisation or something like that with the upkeep.
Roxby Downs has no free camping (confirmed by VIC on 28/4/16) so we moved on to Andamooka (not much further). Big camp for $3 pp pn donation. Also coin operated shower and potable water.
Cheers
Kaye

Keep the reports coming in Kaye.
Spuds' son runs the roadhouse / bar / camping ground / general store etc. at Stuarts Well.
About 90 kms south of Alice Springs.
Also called Spud and is a bit of a character.
We had a good night there. Good tucker and the bar was rockin' for a couple of hours.
Cheers, Brian
Last night as I was on the stair
I saw a man that wasn't there
He wasn't there again today
I wish he'd bloody go away.

We stopped at Fink River free camping, Sands. Around 125km from Alice. Was a good camp, dogs allowed, drop toilet but I had no problem using it and I refuse to use drop toilets. This one gets pumped out and cleaned! Don't know how often but we were there at the right time. A lady had gone in before me with a spray bottle and the loo was smelling beautiful when i went in.
I've been unable to get on the site for a while so will have to rack the brains now! Yulara resort (Uluru or Ayers Rock) was great. Mixed reviews in WikiCamps but we found it great and the supermarket prices weren't exhorbitant. They had fresh bread every day and hot chickens for $10ish. 10L box of water was $6.50 for black and gold. Kings Canyon resort was smaller and only had a general store for purchases. 10L box of a better brand water but it was $20! We decided to stick with what we had. The camp was fine; $40 I think for unpowered site. About 110km out was a fine free camp but no facilities. Dogs welcome.
Now in Alice and staying at Temple Bar Caravan Park, around 12k out of Alice. It is wonderful! $22 night and metered power so we pay around $2 a night for power instead of the $10 everyone else is charging. I'll put up a photo of our view during happy hour when we were parked in a spot the lovely caretaker found for us as they were fully booked and we moved to another site the next day. Cannot recommend highly enouigh. Dog friendly.

Hi Kaymil33,
Thanx for sharing this info. What a great view! Love the colours the rocks throw in the red centre. I'll be in the Territory in 2 weeks but will be flying up because hubby Smed is already up there. I prefer the drive but he took the Landcruiser and there is no way I will take my little hatchback as I know the roos are bigger than my car.
Keep us posted and let us know if you get to Darwin. We may bump into each other.
Cheers,
Sharon
