I LURVE the blowholes and have a few pics myself. Be sure to put them on your WA bucket list if you haven't already. We towed an 18 foot full van to Red Bluff with friends who had an 18 foot pop top. The going was slow and steady but at one stage we went past the turn off and had to do a fifty point turn to come back. Everything was fine in our caravan however our friends lost their collection of Margaret River reds that were stored under their cafe seating. It is for this reason that Smed switched to cans long before, as the bumpy rides caused his stubbies to blow their lids off when shaken up. Our caravan wasn't offroad but Smed had overswung the axle to get higher clearance without the expense.
Cheers,
Sharon

Keep an eye out for Neil Turner Weir in Mitchell, Qld. It is a nice grassy, shady free camp with toilets, showers, water, tables, fireplaces, wood barbecues, plenty of room for large rigs, mobile reception and pets allowed. It is about 3kms west of Mitchell which has everything you need. Fuel, food, etc.

Between Camooweal and the Three Ways roadhouse is a 400km plus long stretch of road. Along this stretch there are a few free camps, usually alongside a bore. I used to look out for the telltale windmills but last visit the windmills were pulled down. For what reason I am not sure but for me a shame. Anyway, these camps are hot and dry and offer the company of a few hundred sticky black flies. But they do the job nicely as a quick overnighter, fit large rigs and allow pets. This pic is of Soudan rest area.

Not all free camps are advertised. On long stretches of remote roads it is possible to pull up wherever you like and camp for a night or three. This pic is on the Savannah Way on the Robinson River. A lovely fresh water river with yabbies wandering around of a night, plenty of birdlife and overall quiet and serene.

This freebie is called Bridge Creek about 30km south of Adelaide River, NT. Plenty of offroad parking for all sized rigs, pets allowed, shade, grass, woodfire bbq's and if you don't mind exploring cross the road, find a track and there are billabongs everywhere. Good spot if you can sleep through the noise of many roadtrains at night.
