Welcome oldrtv. You will love this site. We have learnt so much. We are just a little in front of you for the loooooooong service leave. And Im telling you it will be loooooong. Actually we are retiring at the end of the year. If you want a good book on free camps, I suggest Camps Australia No 6. Have just purchased it and it will be our bible. So much information. Check it out.

About an hour north of Carnarvon is a great camp on the beach not far from the blowholes. Facing west means the sunsets are to die for and if up for a drive further north on a dirt road it is a pretty coastline. Carnarvon is a top little town with a lot of fresh local produce.

That looks nice Dillydallying. Can you tow a 22' van on the dirt road further norh or do you need to unhitch?

I forgot to mention you need to be completely sufficient for this camp. No toilets, showers, anything but a great outlook. But there is mobile reception and must allow pets as I've seen people with their dogs camped there.

Hi Ted,
I unhooked and went sight seeing for a couple of hours. The road is dirt with a few bumpy bits. Wide enough for a caravan and I did see caravans camped at Red Bluff that weren't offroaders so I'm guessing they would have driven very steady to get there. The blowholes are accessible by caravans and definitely worth a look. The rocks are jagged and rugged and the sign says King Waves Kill. Very wild indeed yet beautiful.
