Tasmania was wonderful! Very picturesque and diverse;, it soon became apparent that 12 days was not long enough to enjoy this state.
We arrived in Hobart airport on a Thursday, picked up our wizzbanger (the first time we have ever hired a vehicle) and off we went into the unknown without an itinerary or a clue. We were winging it!

We headed south along the Huon River investigating timber boats and the scenery along the way. We were informed that if we ate at the Dover pub they would let you camp for free out the back. The pub was burnt down so we camped beside the Esperance River. The next morning we set off to the most southern point by road, Cockle Creek, then walked along the beaches to Fishers Point. The temp was 27 degrees, a beautiful day

Salamanca markets was on my bucket list! They were huge, impressive, had entertainment, a vintage car show, lots of goodies and we spent up big on Tasmanian chocolates, local cherries, apricots, apples and more. The scallop pies were recommended so of course, when in Rome . . .

The weather was behaving beautifully so we decided to head up the east coast to hopefully photograph Wineglass Bay, etc before the weather turned. We stuck our nose in every turn off, loving the sleepy fishing villages along the way and chatting with the friendly locals. I was fascinated how much coastline was waterfront farms. Sheep or cattle with a view!

Wineglass Bay was pretty as a picture. The walk to the lookout then to the beach and back certainly tested our fitness levels but well worth it. Whilst on the beach we watched a seal in action hunting for a feed, two sea eagles swoop and fly off with whatever the seal disturbed and many pacific gulls joining in. Whilst watching this commotion I looked around at the other people enjoying the beach and found it amusing that they were oblivious, many taking their own 'selfies' instead. The water was crystal clear but too cold for me. Smed went in but not for long.

I truly loved St Helens and Binalong Bay and discovered a $2 shower! Most happy indeed. We watched a crayboat unload its catch and talked to the skipper before checking out the Bay of Fires. Loved the contrasting colours and took many pics. St Helens also had bbq's so we cooked up a big lunch then Smed collected oysters for dinner. Life can be tough
