And I almost forgot, I need a little advice on a Mercedes Sprinter van. Do you think a 2003 model is too old? And is 290,000 kilometres too many? Do most people go with petrol or diesel? I will probably stick with an automatic.
Hello Bucket list
My son-in-law has a sprinter as a work van and loves it. As for petrol or diesel 290,000 is a lot for a petrol and not bad for the age if diesel. If you are joining the nomad life, diesel is more plentiful when you get away from the big smoke but petrol is not hard to find.
If you are not sure of the life style or haven't done much caravanning, then hire a rig and give it a try for a few weeks. that should help you make up your mind.
Good luck with it
I stick with diesel and currently drive a Landcruiser ute. A mate of mine has a diesel Landcruiser Troopcarrier that has over 600,000kms and still going strong. You may find the website redbook handy when car shopping. How it works is you look up the make and model and it will tell you what they were worth new and what they should sell for now both private and trade in. It is based on approximate kms but not on condition or how much rego. Link:
I really must pull my finger out and make this happen. I chickened out of the Moree job so am probably my worst enemy. To hire means I only have to commit to something short term so it shouldn't be so scary.
